Tourist Places in Trivandrum - Beaches/Lakes/Waterfalls/Dams

One of my colleagues inquired me about the places to visit in Trivandrum.I found myself thinking for a while.Being in Trivandrum for more than 20 years,I used to visit only certain usual places like Shangumukham,Museum,Zoo,Kanakakunnu etc.At that moment I have decided I will ponder something about this so that next time somebody asks me tourist spots in Trivandrum I can come up with a variety of places.And that is the motivational factor behind this post :)

So let me present you some interesting places as well as some already famous places to visit once you are in Trivandrum categorically.We will start with some of the finest beaches/lakes/waterfalls/dams in this post

1. Kovalam Beach
• 16 km from Trivandrum City
• 3 beaches Lighthouse,Hawah,Samudra seperated by rocks
• Resorts,Shopping area,Yoga.
2. Shankumukham Beach
• 8Km from Trivandrum City
• Near to Trivandrum International Airport
• Skating school,indoor sports complex
• "Jalakanyaka" sculpture By Kanayi Kunjiraman
• Jawaharlal Nehru Traffic Park for Children
3. Azhimala Beach
• A quiet beach around 20 km from City
• Speciality : Ayurvedic Resorts
4. Meenmutti and Kombaikani water falls
• 45 Km and 47 Km from Trivandrum city respectively
• Located near to Neyyar resorvoir
• No transportation towards waterfall after reaching there
• Only Trekking 
• Kombaikani: 2 km upstream of Meenmutti 
5. Neyyar Dam
• 29Km from Trivandrum City
• Boating,Mountainerring facilities
• Lion Safari Park,Crocodile Rearing Centre
6. Aruvikkara Dam
• 16 Km from Trivandrum Central
• This resorvoir supplies water to Trivandrum City
7. Veli Lake
• 11 Km from Trivandrum city
• Tourist village,Boat club etc

Apple's Healthkit

Apple has launched iPhone 6, which includes a new Health app and associated tool for developers called HealthKit. This app monitors everything from the user’s heart rate to his or her chronic conditions.HealthKit measures not just the user’s health but illnesses as well. The healthcare giant Mayo Clinic has become a HealthKit partner.

• When a patient takes a blood pressure reading, HealthKit automatically notifies their app which will automatically check whether that reading is within the user's personalized healthcare parameters threshold. 
• If the reading crossed the threshold, this app can contact the hospital proactively, notify a doctor, and that doctor can reach out the patient, providing immediate care.
• Healthkit coordinates with other health and fitness app and makes them possible for them to work towards your good health.
• It is also integrated into the new Apple Watch.
• The watch can collect basic information like pulse and steps taken and share it with Healthkit.

An accident

Today it was the start of the semester. I was running to the bus stop. By the time I reached there the bus had almost gone. But the driver saw me and stopped the bus.

I reached college and started climbing those long stairs to my class. Its on the 3rd floor. By the time one survives those long steps he will be almost exhausted. At last I reached class and had my breakfast.

As usual the semester started with long boring advises from teachers which we happily ignored. 

After 1st  hour I got bored and started doodling in my note. I was busy doodling that I didn't notice the teacher looking at me. My friend kicked me so I fixed my glance to the teacher's face and gave her an impression that I was listening. The rest of the day went smoothly .

At 4:10 the bell rang and classes were suspended for the day. 

Now , if run fast I'll get the 4:15 bus or else I have to wait for the 4:45 bus. But I was too lazy to run,  let alone walk.  So I told my friends that we would go by 4:45 bus.

We waited till 4:45 and got that bus. On the way I saw a bus with its front side almost damaged. And when I looked I saw it was the 4:15 bus and many of my college friends went by that bus.I was really worried for them. But luckily no one had major injuries. 

My laziness saved me from an accident. :)

A Random Day

"OMG..its 7:30...why didn't i wake up early. Now i have got only 20 minutes left to get ready!".  

I checked my mobile to see whether my alarm worked. It worked perfectly. Its me that didn't work properly!.

I sprang from the bed, ran to bathroom, somehow finished my basic needs and got dressed. My mom had made breakfast and lunch and packed them .I stuffed them in my bag and left the home five minutes to eight. I was actually running to bus stop. My neighbor's dog barked at the sight of me everyday. I didn't like that dog.

                                          

 Once i was returning from my college. Somebody had left my neighbor's gate wide open. This dog jumped in front of me out of nowhere. I was taken aback .I didn't know what to do. I called out its name sweetly.

But it was in no mood to hear my sweet talk. I thought i was dead. But then my neighbor came and dragged that dog to his house. I had the shock of my life that day. Since that incident i got scared of dogs

FIP-Fake IPL Player.The one with a good humour sense,sharp tongue.

All of those who follow the IPL closely accept one thing.this is not at all that exciting as last year's.but FIP surely has added an extra flavour to this excitement even though its less.KKr-the most glamourous team but the sloppiest [:d].many people believe that its someone from the KKr camp itself.but i dont think so coz this guy has good literary skills,knows hindi and bengali.so it cant be a foreigner.then of the indians in that camp nobody wont even dare to do that coz its easy to find our guy from a group of 13 or so indians.so it must be someone outside with a help from inside.

well,its good to read especially the way he pokes fun at others.sreesanth cannot be potrayed much better than this and so do the coaches,dada etc..

to those people who havn't read it till now ..GO & READ IT.its hilarious.

A strange dream...........

Ahh.This is just another day.I love vacations.U know what.??One can have as much as sleep they want during hols.Iwoke around 9 a.m.my legs were aching and then i thought about the strange dream last night.

The place is my home itself.It was night and i was going to sleep.My cell rang.It was my friend .grrrr.......... the stupid range.I cant even hear a thing properly.Sooon i found myself out of my house toddling for range.I kept on  walking saying hello hello...I finished talking with my friend and suddenly, i realised im far away from home.An idea just popped in my head.i want to know what it feels like having a midnight stroll alone.It was a place with a lot of trees and all.In reality i wont even take a chance to walk like that in night.but its a dream and i can do whatever i want.I was enjoying myself.

Then suddenly i heard a strange noise.Oohh my god i somehow managed to enter that forbidden forest!!!!!!!!! I dont know my way back.i have a gut feeling that something will just pop out from thin air and scare me.

I saw a big tree near which there was a lot of grass.I decided to sit there till dawn and wait for somebody to come tom my rescue.I sat there thinking of different possibilities of how would i end up facing a ghost.To steer my mind away from such thoughts,i took my cell and scanned through it.Suddenly i heard someone coming.I was confused about who is coming and was it safe to tell him to get me to my home back.I saw his face through moonlight

He looked old and had a sack in his shoulder.I thought it was not a good idea to approach him. so i just sat there silenltly.He looked like he was searching something.Suddenly my cell rang.oh my god!!! He heard it and looked in my direction.I didnt know what to do.He was smiling at me.i thought of running away from there.But my legs wont even move.I just stood there frozen.He was approaching me.

Out of nowhere i got some energy and i ran.

i ran and ran and ran....

haaa..i can see my home now.thank god.i somehow got into my home and dived into my bed.shut my eyes tight.when i woke up next morning i felt like this has happened for real coz my legs were aching.i searched for my cell to check whether my friend called last night.i didn see it in the usual place.i searched for it everywhere.under the bed,sheets,table.i couldnt find it.i thought of going to the forest.i dressed up and went there.i found the same tree i saw in my dream and there it was...MY CELL..lying there in the grass...

Google Gives Windows Users A Gmail Gadget For The Desktop

If you're a user of the Google Desktop product on the Windows platform, Google has good news for you. It's finally added a Gmail gadget for the Desktop sidebar. Now you can see incoming e-mail without opening up Gmail in your browser.

I find Google Desktop to be very useful in Windows. The fact that a Gmail gadget hasn't been available before now has been rather baffling. Thank goodness Google finally listened to the pleas of the masses and added one.

Google says, "You'll see that it covers the basics such as reading, searching, and sending messages. You can star messages, use the same keyboard shortcuts, and we didn't forget about contact auto-complete. It doesn't take up much space in your sidebar or desktop, and you can also resize it to show as few or as many messages as you'd like."

Right now the Gmail gadget currently works with the latest release of Google Desktop for Windows. Support for Macs and Linux isn't available yet. I haven't have a chance to download it yet, but Google is excited that people check it out and provide some feedback.

Today is a saturday and i have nothing to do other than surfing the web.Its been a while since i hav added a new post on my blog.so i thought its time to add one.:).I downloaded a lot of songs today....

I have been pondering a while about improving my literary skills since i lost touch with it way back.I like reading more than writing.Ebooks are really popular nowadays right? but i like to read normal books.Because the scent of a newly bought book,the satisfaction u get while flickering through its pages...these are some things that u cannot get while reading an ebook.While reading an ebook chances are there that u get more prone to backpain,headache..but on the otherhand ebooks are more easier to get.:)

ICE

We all carry our mobile phones with names & numbers stored in its
memory but nobody, other than ourselves, knows which of these numbers
belong to our closest family or friends.

If we were to be involved in an accident or were taken ill, the people
attending us would have our mobile phone but wouldn't know who to
call. Yes, there are hundreds of numbers stored but which one is the
contact person in case of an emergency? Hence this "ICE" (In Case of
Emergency) Campaign

The concept of "ICE" is catching on quickly. It is a method of contact
during emergency situations. As cell phones are carried by the
majority of the population, all you need to do is store the number of
a contact person or persons who should be contacted during emergency
under the name "ICE" ( In Case Of Emergency).

The idea was thought up by a paramedic who found that when he went to
the scenes of accidents, there were always mobile phones with
patients, but they didn't know which number to call. He therefore
thought that it would be a good idea if there was a nationally
recognized name for this purpose. In an emergency situation, Emergency
Service personnel and hospital Staff would be able to quickly contact
the right person by simply dialing the number you have stored as
"ICE.."

For more than one contact name simply enter ICE1, ICE2 and ICE3 etc. A
great idea that will make a difference!

Let's spread the concept of ICE by storing an ICE number in ourMobile
phones today!

everybody will know about this It really could save your life, or put
a loved one's mind at rest .

SOME THOUGHTS.........

Well...i dunno what 2 give a blog name...actually i wanted to share some happy moments of my life in trivandrum....
I spent 16 years in trivandrum .........having spent such a long time i have seen a lot of changes here........both good and bad.......it was really tough to leave that place and to start living in another place...
when i hear the name trivandrum ...the first thing that comes to my mind are the beautiful streets...[not all of them..]..but some really are...with shady trees planted on either side...they look really beautiful when its raining....but now with the busy traffic and all..its not the same....
I remember very well..the first days in the school.I along with my friends and an ayah went to the school walking. Ayah used to carry our bags while we walked.It seemed to be a long journey at that time.We left for school around 8:30and reached there almost in time.the teachers used to arrange students in the benches in a peculiar manner;one boy,one girl like that.Some of the boys were really pests.They used to make fun of us.in the evening before going to home we used to play for sometime in the school premises. those were really great moments...but didn't realize at that time...all that we cared at that time was about the simple worries and silly things about spending time in school....one day i really faked fever to sit at home...but that didn't work....and at the end of the year i got chicken pox....actually i was pretty excited to get that...i was sad because everybody in our family got except me....one day i noticed some small spots in my hand...i was really happy! at last i got it....but later i realized that i was wrong...i had to spend my entire day on bed eating food without salt.Icould not go out and play. That was really boring .......but i was relieved when i heard that i got promoted to the next class without writing the exams!!!!!!!!!!
The school days were really fun...i used to participate in some dance programs there..not that I'm good at dancing..but the teachers used to force us into participating....but i left that school in 4th,there was no U.P section there....

I joined one of the famous girls' schools there..i was not tensed to join there because i had my best friend with me.....but unfortunately both of us were put to separate classes....so i had to find some new friends in my class...everybody seemed to know each other...it was really tough to find friends.... but i somehow managed to make everyone there,my friends.
